the-trump-fileThe Trump File is where I will post all my blog posts about the 45th president of the United States. I think it is important that over the next four years at least that people consistently blog and publish articles that track what his administration does. Yes, the media will do their best to hold the collective feet of the Trump administration to the fire, but we are now seeing that the 45th president has very little respect for the 4th estate and does not intend to be too friendly with them.

On January 20,2017 Donald J Trump will become the 45th president of the United States of America.

The presidential election of 2016 was historic for many reasons, but perhaps none more than the fact that a real estate/reality TV show star ran for the Republican nomination and won, then challenged an odds-on favorite, Hillary Clinton, and won. President-elect Trump plumbed the depths of the worst and darkest sentiments, bigotry, and anger that obviously were simmering just below the surface in the United States.

This is not a place to mock, make fun of, belittle, degrade, dishonor, insult, or unduly criticize President-elect Trump. That only arms his supporters with more ammunition to defeat his opponents in 2018 and 2020.  Let the late-night comics and pundits do all that stuff. The job of the average person is much more important. The job here is to do whatever is needed to equip and mobilize the American electorate (of which I am not one) to defeat the Republican Congress in 2018, thus presenting a huge obstacle to him implementing some of the more crazy and harmful policies that he has so openly discussed throughout the campaign and even since winning the election.

People who are good cannot be silent. People who embrace equality and empathy, mercy and justice, freedom and liberty must now stand together and use whatever tools are available to them. This includes people in other countries around the world. One of the realities of the 21st century is that nations are now part of a community of nations much more so than at any other time in world history. We are each other’s neighbors. Canadians don’t just share a border with the United States, we are like neighbors on a street. If you want to live in a peaceful community, then you must learn to respect your neighbors, even if they live differently than you do.

2018 might seem like a long time away, but it is a mere 24 months and they will slip by very quickly. Americans who oppose Donald Trump do not have time to lick their wounds from November 2016. That election is history. It is gone. Liberals and progressives in the United States need to move forward and look ever forward to a better time.
